The Handelsgold brand is part of the portfolio of the traditional German company Arnold André. The brand name was already protected in 1935, but due to the war, Handelsgold was not launched until 1946.

True to the original idea of ​​"quality for everyone, at prices for everyone", the pricing structure was set in the post-war period. The product name already revealed the price, for example Handelsgold No. 10 cost 10 pfennigs and Handelsgold No. 15 cost 15 pfennigs. This concept was so memorable that nothing changed for 20 years.
