Freehands are pipes that are completely handcrafted by the pipe maker. The "free hand" in this context means that these pipes do not have a precise shape. Rather, the final appearance depends on the grain, shape and size of the piece of briar wood used. To a certain extent, the pipe maker works along the grain and leaves out imperfections in the wood.
This creates pipes with an incredibly beautiful grain or unusual shapes. Each pipe is therefore a unique piece.
