The history of Macanudo dates back to the middle of the 19th century, when the brand was first mentioned in Guatemala. For a long time, however, it remained a rather unknown quantity in the world of cigars. It was not until 1968, when the General Cigar Company acquired the rights to the name, that Macanudo began its rise to become a globally recognised premium brand. Most Macanudo cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic. The country is known for its excellent growing regions and its long tradition of cigar production. Only high-quality tobaccos from different growing regions are used for production.
