The Salty Dogs is a blend of sweet Virginia with a pinch of Perique. It is then enhanced with some Caribbean rum.  This dark plug is full-bodied and quaffable. It comes pressed into a block (“plug”) and can be cut to the individual needs. This form of serving originates from sailors, because this way the tobacco was both handy and hardly perishable. It was common to aromatize this kind of tobacco by hand with some rum or even use it as a chewing tobacco.
